Although the semester has come to an end, your access to careers support continues over the summer. Whether you need help with applying for opportunities, want to explore career options or simply chat about your next step, the Careers Service is here to support you. We have lots of resources available to help you with your career journey.

Here are four ways you can engage with the Careers Service this summer:

  1. Visit our drop-ins

Our weekly online drop-in sessions will continue over summer, so you can still have all your questions answered by one of our careers advisors. Our drop-in sessions will be available over Zoom every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (excluding bank holidays), and are available to all students and recent graduates.

There’s no need to book, simply log onto CareerConnect to check times and Zoom link details. If you cannot attend one of our drop-ins, you can also book a one to one Careers Guidance Appointment.

2. Connect with us on web chat

You can also speak to us through web chat, which can be accessed through the help and advice section on our website. One of our careers advisors will be on hand, Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, to answer your questions live. Simply type your message in the box and we’ll reply to you shortly.

3. Attend employer events

Many employers are running events over the summer, giving you a great opportunity to meet with recruiters, find out about opportunities and how to boost your skills. There’s a wide range of events for you to attend including: the HSBC Summer Skills series, Manchester Jobs Fair, Google Summer Insights 2022 and workshops with the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Careers Hub.

Check CareerConnect for our full event schedule and how to register.

4. Access graduate support

Even if you’ve just graduated, the Careers Service is here for you and can be accessed for up to two years after finishing your course. There are lots of resources to help you navigate your next steps after University, including our dedicated website page and our Recent Graduate Careers Network group on LinkedIn.

You can also attend one of our Q&A events, especially for graduates, to have your questions answered. Read our blog post on ongoing careers support to find dates and registration links.

You can also contact us through our social media pages. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to send us a message and stay up to date with careers information. Don’t forget, we also have a wide range of resources and information on our website too.

Remember, the Careers Service is here to help you with your questions and concerns, no matter what stage you’re at. From all of us here at the Careers Service, we hope you have a great summer!
