From Monday, 28 March until Friday, 1 April the Careers Service will be running all day CV drop-ins across campus. Whether you have your first draft ready or haven’t started to think about what to put on your CV, we are here to help!
Attend our sessions from 9.30am – 4.30pm in the following locations:
- Monday, 28 March – Main Library Event Room (Ground Floor)
- Tuesday, 29 March – MECD Student Support Hub (Ground Floor)
- Wednesday, 30 March – Stopford Building (First Floor)
- Thursday, 31 March – Students’ Union The Hive (First Floor)
- Friday, 1 April – Samuel Alexander North (Classics) Foyer
Who are the drop-ins for?
Our drop-ins are for all students from any subject, across any year group.
From reading over a copy of your CV, to discussing how to tailor it for your job applications, we are running this CV week as an opportunity for you to learn the tips and tricks to writing a good CV. You may already have a few versions of your CV, so you could bring your best one for us to look over.
If you don’t plan on starting any applications soon, you could get a head start by learning how to format your CV and how to tailor it when applying for different roles. It’s also very useful to have a second pair of eyes look over your work, which we are here to offer!
What can I do to work on my CV?
If you want to start now, or you want to know what resources we have to help you write and edit your CV, check out our pathways.
Our CV Pathway includes a CareerSet CV checker, which gives you instant feedback, 24/7, all year around. Upload your CV as many times as you like to improve your score and read the feedback. CareerSet guides you through how to layout your qualifications and skills, what buzz-words employers like and don’t like, plus it gives you ideas for how to make your CV memorable!
Once you complete the pathway and score at least 70% you will unlock our CV Review appointments if you would like 1-1 feedback. There are also videos, e-learning guides and other resources to help you with your CV on CareerConnect, and on the Get CV Ready Pathway.
If you’d like to read up on what your CV should look like and what a CV is used for, take a look at our CV FAQ’s. This is a great resource to look at before heading to our CV Week drop-ins, as it gives you the chance to think about what you may need help with for writing your own CV.
Also, check out our Instagram to spot our Student Partner Interns favourite CareerConnect resources, and to see where we will be on campus each day of CV week.
We can’t wait to see you all during CV Week, and help you feel confident with how to tailor your CV!
