Looking for a graduate job but not sure where to start? Here are six places to start your search for your next opportunity:
- Manchester Graduate Talent (MGT).
Run by the University, MGT offers graduates roles in a variety of sectors within the University and in small to medium sized businesses in the Greater Manchester area. The roles are only available to UoM graduates and are available throughout the year.
The Career Service’s new platform lists a huge variety of different graduate opportunities. You can search by vacancy type, location and industry. You can also find events and make appointments with Careers Consultants.
Use Graduate Job Search to access 200+ targeted searches across more than 20 industries. Use this tool to explore jobs in specific sectors and find graduate employers who are currently recruiting.
These agencies can put you forward for roles and match you with employers. Keep in mind that they are not obliged to help you and that different agencies work with different sectors and job types. There are also different ways of approaching recruitment agencies. Do some research to find out which approach is best for finding the roles you’re interested in.
Reach out to contacts and alumni working in the sectors you are interested in. You can build these connections by attending events like Meet the Professionals to make new connections. Understand how to use social media, especially LinkedIn, to support your job search. Don’t forget to let your networks know you are looking for work.
- Attend online employer events.
Employer webinars provide you with the opportunity to connect to a variety of employers and recruiters who are interested in hiring graduates from The University of Manchester. Don’t worry if you can’t make it to the live session. You can watch recorded events on the Careers Service YouTube channel.
Looking for an international graduate role? Applications will be slightly different. Read our guide for more information.
Still not quite sure what you want to do? Explore our Which Career? page for information about sectors and roles, research employers, and read our Grad Scheme FAQs.
Remember the Careers Service can support you throughout your time at university and as a recent graduate! You can access the Careers Service for up to two years after your graduation, for guidance and information, CV and application advice, and events and opportunities.
